Conservation by Re-use
Helping churches acquire surplus and/or redundant bells to be hung for
English-style full-circle bell-ringing.
Birmingham, West Midlands,
St Paul, Hockley
(The Jewellers Church)
The parish was considering installing a ring of ten bells based on the chime removed from Grainger’s Lane Methodist Church, Cradley Heath. The St Martin’s Guild for the Diocese of Birmingham are making this the main project to commemorate the Guild’s 250th anniversary in 2005. As the fund raising went so well the church had sufficient promises to cast an entirely new ring of bells.
The Trust is pleased that the offer of the ex-Cradley Heath bells helped to launch the scheme.
