Liverpool, St Barnabas

(Penny Lane)

The Trust assisted the parish of  St Barnabas,  Liverpool with its millennium project of installing a ringing peal of bells; using our  Bell Rescue Fund we acquired the ring of six bells from the redundant church of St James, Waterfoot, Lancashire. The Trust also located two surplus bells from Colwall, Herefordshire which have been used with the ex-Waterfoot ring to complete the octave.

St Barnabas church is situated at one end of Penny Lane - made famous by a 1960’s Beatles song. The bells installation project was completed in 2011.

We are pleased  to have been able to assist the Merseyside Bell Restoration Group with the project. The MBRG are a registered charity who help churches in the Merseyside area to restore, augment or install bells. Link to the  Merseyside Bell Restoration Group web site.

The surplus Taylor bell from St Barnabas has become the new tenor bell at St Peter ad Vincula, Coggeshall, Essex.
