Conservation by Re-use
Helping churches acquire surplus and/or redundant bells to be hung for
English-style full-circle bell-ringing.
Seattle, WA, University of Washington
The Trust located and supplied six bells for installation at the Gerberding Hall Bell Tower during 2004. The bells came from the pre-2004 ring at Writtle, Essex and were made available when a newly cast ring of ten was installed.
However the high cost of structural alterations to the Gerberding Hall tower resulted in a change of scheme; a newly cast ring of bells substantially lighter than the ex-Writtle bells was installed during 2007.
Ten years after their sale to the University of Washington, the Keltek Trust repurchased them and they are to be installed at Laughton-en-le-Morthen, South Yorkshire. The newly cast but unused trebles of eight have been installed at Lympne, Kent to augment the ring of six to eight.
