Conservation by Re-use
Helping churches acquire surplus and/or redundant bells to be hung for
English-style full-circle bell-ringing.
South Ockendon, Essex,
Like many modern church buildings the tower though large in area, is not capable of taking a heavy ring of bells. A ring of eight bells with a tenor weight of just under 4 cwt was installed during November 2011 incorporating five bells acquired by the Trust. The Trust donated the 4th of the ring of eight.
Three bells came from a dismantled mobile carillon and one bell came from Litherland, St Andrew and another from St Leonards-on-Sea, St Ethelburga.
One of the ex-carillon bells, now the tenor of the ring.
Litherland, Merseyside, St Andrew
St Leonards-on-Sea, St Ethelburga
